Ermine spots can be depicted as either being parallel to the edges of a band, or perpendicular to it. This pattern is one of the first I devised that shows the motif perpendicular to the band.
The sample shown was made using 2/16wc (18/2nm) wool for the warp, and two strands of sewing thread for the weft. I matched the weft colour to the foreground. The gauge for the piece was about 29 cards per inch, and 28 rows per inch.
